A Front Porch Portrait, a Place in Time

Seattle Lifestyle Family Photographer

August 27th, 2021

In 2020, during the first year of the pandemic, families and photographer were trying to figure out a way to continue telling stories. And a beautiful thing was born... The Front Porch Project. And this idea spread like wildfire in the photographic community. It was a way to stay connected and still be 6+ feet away. A beautiful way to document life and chaos during the pandemic.

I of course loved this idea, because sitting a family down on their front porch, standing them in front of their front door, or anywhere to show the front of the house is nostalgic... I try for this at every session at the home of a client. This is important for a couple of reasons, but most of all, because that front door is something we encounter every day. Every. Single. Day. My family painted our house last summer, and when I come across photos of our house from before that time, I am reminded of how much has changed, and how much we disliked our house being yellow.

And I happen to know for a fact that almost HALF of the families in the gallery below have moved from the homes shown in these images. HALF.

Your front porch is not something to hide. It may not be an ideal space to you, but you will look back on the handful of shots we took in that location and remember.

We can accomplish a Front Porch Portrait during any of my offered session packages... as long as we are at your home! Check out my Sessions with Alec page, or reach out with any questions!
